Legal Associate

Ong Shau Qin, Nikki graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2015 and obtained a Certificate in Legal Practice in 2016.

Nikki then chambered with Messrs Syed Alwi, Ng & Co. and was subsequently admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2018. She was retained and offered a position as Legal Associate in the banking and conveyancing department of the firm’s Cyberjaya branch, where she handled corporate loans and provided legal advice in all aspects of property transactions.

Nikki joined Khairuddin Ngiam & Tan in 2024 as a Senior Associate, currently handling conveyancing and banking matters of the firm. She mainly deals with property transactions ranging from acquisitions and disposals either by individuals or corporates, security documentations for financial institutions (both conventional and Islamic financing), including but not limited to project and contract financing, bridging loan, syndicated loan, real estate acquisition, restructuring and refinancing. 

Nikki regularly drafts, negotiates and reviews contracts of various nature for clients. She also assisted lead counsel in drafting corporate documents, project agreements and advising, negotiating and drafting of M&A transactions. Nikki’s other areas of interest and practice includes will-writing and probate matters. 

Nikki’s experiences growing up in Kelantan helped her to empathise with the struggles faced by those lacking knowledge of their rights. Nikki gave a talk on “The Importance of Having a Will” to the local community in conjunction with the annual youth camp organised by the Terengganu Buddhist Association. Nikki verily believes that helping others in need is not about giving, it is about making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. She is driven by community engagements and is all set to embark on her legal journey in the firm that subscribes to the same values.
